[Arktwo] Read this book!

I have fallen behind
the last couple of days
in getting out SOL
and Food Calculator responses.

The reason is -
I have been focused
on reading the book
that I have been telling you about.

The book is:

Reinventing Collapse:
The Soviet Example and American Prospects
by Dmitry Orlov

and there is an in-depth presentation
about the book -

that I think it would be beneficial to STUDY.

The book itself is relatively short  - 160 pages
(sorry - no pictures, except of the author)
but many of the world's most important books
have been short.
(Did you ever read Einstein's
Theory of  Relativity?
Even shorter.)

Einstein in his introduction said that
he had written for people of high school education.
Hmmm.

Well, anyway, the back cover commentaries of Orlov's` book
say that it is humorously written,
but you may need a particular sense of humour
to appreciate that.

I have been on the publishers waiting list
for some months
through the kindness of friend Ponce,
waiting for the publishing release date of the book.
Some people were so fortunate -
as to get advance copies -
but I was not one of them.

However,
I read many reviews
by those who did get advance copies.

I have called this in my newsletters
the most important book to be published this year -
and I was not disappointed.

I think that it is a book
that every person
on this Newsletter list should read.
I have never in this manner
ever recommended a book to you before.

Hopefully,
you will grasp how important
I think this book is.

While I think the book
is exceptionally accurate -
and VERY important -
there are several things in it
with which I am in disagreement.

The author says:

"Some people are even suggesting a war over resources with a nuclear
endgame. On this point I am optimistic. ...Noting that conventional weapons
have not been effective in this area, it is unclear why nuclear weapons
would produce better results. But these are all details; ..."

As the saying goes -
"the devil is in the details".

Nuclear WW3 would make the collapse:

a. Sudden!
b. Universal!
c. More complicated (fallout etc.)

A sudden catastrophe -
would be more psychologically shocking
that a mere degradation
(such as we are now experiencing)
no matter how rapidly that may accelerate.

Being universal -
there would be nowhere for people to flee -
and no commodities whatsoever -
from other countries.

The surrounding destruction
from nuclear weapons -
would add a whole other element
to which he gives no account.

However,
obviously,
to Orlov -
as to the other 97% of the population -
such a thing is not about to happen -
(at least in the next couple of years).

To him -
it is the unthinkable.
He says that others are in 'denial'
about the societal collapse
of which he speaks
but I of course equally see him
as being in denial
about the use of nuclear weapons.

He says:
"it is unclear why nuclear weapons would produce better results"

Well, he is right.
They will produce even worse results -
but that does not mean they won't be used.
The same human insanity -
that has led to the use of other weapons -
will lead to the use of these weapons.

The second point -
that I quite strongly disagree with -
about the thesis of the book -
is the motives / mode and / methods
that it puts forth for survival.
They are all selfish oriented.
Even the reasons for cooperation -
are given for the purpose -
of what one will get back.

Orlov, although a Jew,
appears to be a part of
that largest category of Jewry -
called non-practicing /
or non-believing Jews.

There is no indication
that he sees Divine Destiny
or Divine Purpose -
in these events
which are about to befall humanity.
Indeed he denigrates such a viewpoint.

While he wishes to see
and expects to see
a shift in human consciousness
from the present consumerism -
it is not indicated that it might be
to some spiritually motivated
spirit of service.

Thirdly,
Orlov offers no global solution -
and really no solution at all -
other than individual adaptation
to what will be a
marginal / subsistence society.

I of course -
while even more of a short-term pessimist -
am a long-term optimist
about the destiny of humanity -
and for that matter
the future restoration and accomplishments
of technology.

Even with these caveats about the book -
I still feel that it is an ESSENTIAL read
for those who have an interest and viewpoint -
that leads them to be a reader
of this Newsletter.

As I have often said -
there are no experts on
nuclear world war -
because no one has been through one -
but Orlov is the best expert
that I have seen
on societal collapse -
which would / will be an accompanying feature
to nuclear world war.

He is an analytical eye witness -
with the perspective of having
a foot firmly planted -
in each of two technological cultures -
so that he can describe and differentiate
the similarities and disparities between them -
and how that will effect the outcomes.

Why this book is so essential -
is that it gives details
of how to cope
with many of the situations
that most every individual will have to face.

For you to have even thought
about those situations -
whether you make preparations or not -
may later prove very invaluable.

As I have said -
the book unfortunately does not
deal with the added problems
that will result from a world wide
nuclear conflict -
but do not fail to gain from it -
the benefit that it does offer.

We are presently in the throes
of the breakdown
of the world
economic
financial
environmental
agricultural
geopolitical
social systems.

In my opinion / expectation
this breakdown will soon lead
to international / global war
that will become nuclear.
(I currently have a date of July 28th.)

Beyond - and immediately apart of -
the nuclear world war -
there will be an even Greater Catastrophe -
which may be seen as caused
by the actions of humanity -
but may well also be recognized as
the Divine Retribution.

The latter will be necessary
to permit the survival of humanity.

And except that the Lord had shortened those days, no flesh should be saved:
but for the elect's sake, whom he hath chosen, he hath shortened the days.

All things work for good -
as will nuclear WW3
and societal collapse.
Many will not see how that is possible -
but I have explained that elsewhere.

July 28th,
is the first time that I have ever selected a date.
Admittedly - "No man knoweth the hour." -
and I don't 'know' that is the date.

I don't get any revelations / dreams or such -
and I don't have any inside 'intel' from anyone.
My reasons for picking that date
are quite personal.
I don't think the event will happen for my convenience -
but I pray that the Lord is keeping / will keep
me in sync with His Plan and Purpose.

I  have had many expectations before -
as to the year -
or in regards to particular 'windows'
or geo-political situations.
This is however -
the first time I have picked a date -
and I am making every effort
to be as fully prepared as we can be -
by that date.

If it had not been for my previous expectations -
I would not have made the efforts to prepare
that I have.
And if I had not made those efforts previously -
I would not now be able to be as prepared
as we are.
Therefore I am appreciative and grateful -
that I was given those previous motivations -
and that admittedly could be the situation -
with my present expectation,
and how I will view it later.
