Whatever way you want to spell it.
Lots of mystery
around the concept -
and whether you believe
in the doppelgangers or not
in the political world
there have been some interesting uses
of doubles.

I can hear it now -

CIA:	"Well, Dave,
	you have been chosen
	to stand in for George
	on his visit to Ramallah."

Dave:	"Isn't that a bit dangerous?"

CIA:	"That is why you have been chosen to do it
	instead of George."

Dave:	"What is this that I hear about
	Al Aqsa Mosque Brigade
	being made responsible for security
	of the president's visit there.
	Aren't they designated
	as a terrorist group?"

CIA:	"Well, yes, but that is the
	Palestinian Authority's choice -
	and it is after all their area."

Dave:	"Hmmm. Are you sure this isn't a set-up?"

CIA:	"Could be.
	But we will be watching out for you."

Dave:	"Oh, goody.
	But, what would happen -
	if I got killed?"

CIA: 	"The vice-president would of course take over."

Dave:	"But George would still be living."

CIA:	"Not that anyone would know.
	He has contingency plans
	of a 98,840 acre ranch
	in Paraguay, near the
	Bolivian/Brazilian border."

Dave:	"And there he lives -
	happily ever after?"

CIA:	"Yep, we take care of our own."

Dave:	"George is CIA?"

CIA:	"Well, he is family.
	His dad used to run
	the Company (CIA)."

Dave:	"But why would he want
	to leave the Presidency?"

CIA:	"He may not want to -
	but we all have our orders.
	His time is running out -
	and this way the VP
	will become president -
	and eligible to be re-elected."

Dave:	"But the American people
	may not want him."

CIA:	"We have our ways.
	That has never been a problem before.
	Only amateurs like Chavez
	down in Venezuela
	don't control the outcome
	of elections."

Dave:	"So - the VP would become
	the Prez?"

CIA: 	"Yep, we call it COG.
	(Continuity of Government).
	All the countries practice it.
	Big countries like Putin in Russia,
	the Party in China,
	and the US are very successful about it.
	People come and people go -
	but no matter who wins -
	the control remains the same."

Dave:	"You know -
	I think this could be dangerous -
	for more than just me.
	It might start a war -
	or something."

CIA:	"Well, that too.
	Some say that the shot
	that started WW1
	was when on the
	28th  of June 1914,
	when Gavrilo Princip,
	a Bosnian Serb student,
	in Sarajevo,
	shot and killed
	Archduke Franz Ferdinand,
	heir to the Austro-Hungarian throne.

	Things are still
	just as rocky in Bosnia
	and historians may even look back
	and say that Bhutto's assassination
	in Pakistan last week
	was equally well
	the start of WW3."

Dave:	"I wouldn't want to be
	the start of WW3."

CIA:	"It wouldn't be you.
	It would be the assassination of George,
	if it were to cause anything like that."

Dave:	"But George would be in Venezuela!"

CIA:	"Well, yes,
	and dead as far as the world knows.
	But we all have our orders."

Dave:	"Who gives you your orders?"

CIA:  "That is on a need to know basis,
	and you don't need to know."

Dave:	"I am not sure that I want to do this.
	I may not come back alive."

CIA:	"Buckle up soldier.
	We don't know what is going to happen.
	We all die eventually -
	cowards many times -
	the brave only once.
	Even the terrorists
	gladly die for their cause.
	You should be very pleased and proud -
	that you have been chosen
	to serve at the top point
	for your country -
	for your culture -
	for civilization."

Dave:	"Well, it seems awfully risky -
	having the president go to Ramallah,
	where Arafat was kept under siege
	for so long."

CIA:	"Presidents always take risks and are at risk.
	Statistically
	there is always more chance
	of being assassinated as President -
	than enlisting in the military.
	So - one must say that being President -
	is at least as brave -
	as joining the service."

Dave: "Well,
	this Ramallah trip seems
	a bit risky to me.
	Does George have a death wish?"

CIA:	"Certainly not for himself.
	Nope, he is perfectly sane.
	It is just a risk that he is willing to take -
	for peace."

Dave:	"Or war.
	If it wasn't for the honor of it -
	I don't think that I would do it."

Just a bit of fantasy -
for what has the potential
of being a fantastic year.

I don't know
what is going on
with this Presidential trip -
or Iran -
or Pakistan -
or anything else.

People get all emotional
about their points of view -
that the world's problems
are because of:
communists
Islamists
neo-neocons
Jews
Bilderbergers
or whomever.

My paradigm is different.
All that is so much froth
on the top of the Ocean of Reality -
which is humanity's relationship to God.

Humanity's -
selfishness
immorality
materialism
prejudices
will bring about the Great Catastrophe -
and our only individual choice is
to get right with God
and to work through it.

Anyway -
there is my first thought
for this new year.
It may prove as wrong this year
as it has in all years previous.
But -
should it happen right now -
we are more ready at Ark Two
than we have ever been before.

Lots of snow at this time.
Means we have to get
the big tractor snow blower
to get into the shelter.

Took me an hour
day before yesterday
to dig a path out to the battery house.

Yesterday,
Jean and I went through
and cleaned up the worm farm.
Friend blew out our driveway for us
and another friend did a big modification
on our log splitter.

Friday we will be taking Jemma back
for breeding.
Then she is due to come back on the 11th.
Report is all ten of her previous puppies
are doing well in training -
so far.
Generally -
only 40% graduate.
No recent report on Printer.

Only aware of one
technical problem at the shelter -
(a water tank leak)
but we need the snow blown
in order to get to it.

Always more that could be done.
We have all the components
for the intercom and surveillance systems -
but they need to be installed.

Actually,
so much to do each day
on all the projects
that I can't get them all done.
This is the time of year
that I need to go through
the TEAM Leaders' list again -
and I am way behind
on working with a couple of people
in the Medical group.

A couple of big projects
are outstanding for the WLP
that I have been asked to do.
But -
I am not complaining.

In fact,
it is quite peaceful
and enjoyable right now.
Wood heat is pleasant -
although time consuming -
and we will be dogless
for a week -
starting on the weekend.

A couple of offers
from people to come and help
but at the moment
none have shown up.

Folks have asked me to keep writing -
but I have nothing to add
to what everyone sees
is going on.
The news changes from minute to minute.

Russia isn't sending nuke fuel to Iran.
Russia has sent nuke fuel to Iran.
Russia won't send TORs to Iran.
Russia did send TORs to Iran.
Russia has agreed to send advanced missiles to Iran.
Russia won't send advanced missiles to Iran -

Will, won't, did.
That seems to be the pattern.

On the other side -
everything is a red line.
Drawn in the sand.
Don't step over this line -
well here is another line -
don't step over this line -
well here is another line -
don't step over this line -
and so on.

So -
how does anyone predict anything
on the basis of that.
I can't.
I don't know what is going on.

All I can say -
it sure does seem like something
is about to happen.
Especially on the financial scene.
But there too -
the red lines seem to be adjustable.
That seems to be the pattern.

Final bank reports were due
in December.
Derivative settlements then,
then, and then.
Not just lines in the sand -
but sort of end of the cliff -
and like I am watching a Wiley Coyote cartoon -
where he is now standing out in mid-air.

Obviously -
I understand none of this,
but my hopes are
that you are prepared
for whatever is coming this year.
