[Arktwo] The Sky is Falling

Well, of course -
we have all heard about the satellite
that the US is going to try to shoot down.

I won't speculate about
the whats and wheretofores
of that.
Still trying to figure out
about the cut cables.
One of my problems
is getting the newsletter sent -
before the news changes again.

Nope,
my Chicken Little Concerns
lay in other directions.

Aside from the predictions of
Governor Jesus Bunny-hop God
(the actual handle
that he puts on his business cards)
and about which the Toronto Sun
published an interview with me three weeks ago -
I think that you should know that
the financial world ended
up here in Canada
in December.

Not that any Canadians noticed.
They don't pay attention to things like that -
up this way.
But in December -
the Canadian Banks bond derivatives came due
and the Banks couldn't pay them.

Yep -
hit the wall.
But the government -
stopped the camera -
with the crash car dummies -
and backed up the film.

They stopped the trading
on the bonds that the banks
were over the line with.
Some howls from the big bond holders
who couldn't sell them
or get their money back.
Would have bankrupted the banks.

Okay -
said the Courts, Commissions,
and the other government institutions -
we will give you (the Banks) until
Friday, February 8th -
as a drop dead date
to fix this problem.

Roll cameras -
roll cars -
forward crash car dummies.

February 8th.
"Cut!",
"Rewind",
says the director.
Whoever directs these things.
"The end of the world
is hereby postponed until
February 27th."

Well, maybe we will get that far with the banks -
and maybe we won't.
The reason for the maybe is that while -
the banks have gotten a plan together -
to pay back ONLY the principle on the bonds -
with no interest -
and that they won't pay back the principle as soon
as originally agreed.

Now -
if I can just get my bank
to go along with a plan like that -
I can solve my personal
sub-prime mortgage problem.

The banks' lenders
don't like the program -
but that doesn't matter anyway -
because the banks have run into a new glitch.

The bonds,
to not be totally worthless,
have to be insured
by a bond insurance company -
and the bond insurance companies
are collapsing.

To understand all this
you need to google
ABCP in the financial news pages.

On February 15, New York Governor Elliot Spitzer gave the major US bond
insurers (monolines) MBIA and Ambac three to five days to raise the capital
needed to preserve their all important “AAA” credit ratings.
(Without which, again the bonds are worthless).

Mr Spitzer requested a $US 10 Billion “line of credit” from Congress and
urged the banks involved in the talks aimed at “recapitalising” the insurers
that “time is short”.

Do you see a problem here?
The banks are depending upon
the bond insurers to save them -
and the bond insurers are depending upon
the banks to save them.

In logic -
or what is actually illogic -
we call that a circular argument.
It goes nowhere fast -
or it goes very fast
in a infinite loop around the circle.

Anyway -
Governor Spitzer has said
three to five days
from the 15th -
which would be the 18th or 20th.
Monday or Wednesday.

I didn't know that Governors -
or even Superman -
(until I saw the movie)
could stop time.
Actually -
I don't think that
Governor Spitzer
will be much more successful than
Governor Jesus Bunny-hop God.

Canadian Banks -
and now you are talking about
American Financial Institutions.

but the whole world is interrelated.
Just like Samson and the temple.

Yes,
the world's financial temple
(house of cards)
is held up by many pillars.
The Canadian one
(and many others)
are mighty shaky.

If the bond insurers fail -
the Canadian bank bonds fail.
If the Canadian bank bonds fail -
the Canadian banks fail.
If the Canadian banks fail -
believe me -
other banks will fail
around the world.

to the ankle bone,
and the ankle bone connected
to the leg bone.

How often in my newsletters
I have pointed out
how seemingly small events
can affect large events.

For want of a nail, the shoe was lost,
For want of the shoe, the horse was lost,
For want of the horse, the rider was lost,
For want of the rider, the battle was lost,
For want of the battle, the kingdom was lost,
And all for the want of a nail!

Because of subprime mortgages
the derivatives are lost.
Because of the derivatives
the bonds are lost.
Because of the bonds
the banks are lost.
Because of the banks -
the dollar is lost -
and the financial world falls -
all because of Bruce's
sub-prime mortgage.

Today in the world
we are watching the events in -
Kosovo with it declaring independence (News just in - done deal) -
Pakistan and the control of the nukes -
Iran and the US turning nuke info over to the IAEA -
Syria and the assassination of a major terrorist leader -
Hamas with new arms in Gaza -
Hezbollah with greater forces in Lebanon -
China and the weather and economic crisis rattling it -
Japan and its financial markets -

The list goes from the satellite -
to missiles and the European Union -
to throughout the world
and I could spend pages
analyzing each of these items
and many more.

Three of my Native friends -
are urging me tell you
to stop watching the dollar
and to start watching the weather.
Man is spiritually out of sync
with Mother Earth.

Here too -
the sky seems to be falling.
Throughout the world -
earthquakes,
volcanoes,
tornadoes and
giant storms -
as a collective total -
truly unlike what we have ever seen -
since there has been record keeping.

You should always be prepared -
but they are asking that
I particularly tell you -
to do a bit of extra shopping
at the grocery -
and have at least enough
for a couple of weeks on hand -
during the next coming days.

Here at Ark Two -
we are prepared of course.
In deep snow with the weather -
and in deep doo doo with the bank -
but other than that -
the most ready that we have ever been.

Cutting wood everyday -
still nursing the saw cut -
but keeping warm -
and happy.

Lots of shovelling.
Have to head out with the shovel -
as soon as I send this off.
Canadian winter problems.
Drain on the Jean's washing machine
appears to be frozen.
Can't figure out how to fix
the hydraulics on the log splitter.

Up every few hours
during the night -
to keep the stove going -
and to check emails
and the world news.

But life is joyful.
When I lay down to sleep
it often seems to me
that waves of God's love -
and light sweep over me.
I suspect -
that not many are that blessed.

We know not -
what will eventually -
or soon happen.
It may be that it will not be
Jean and I that use the Ark.
One plants -
and another reaps,
but so long as it is God's will.
