[Arktwo] First Days of May

I write. 
Then - a couple of days later, 
I read. 
And what I have written - 
then appears irrelevant.
So-
I don't send.

Thus it is - 
that for a couple of weeks 
you haven't heard from me.

I have no better grasp 
on the situation now. 
Not that I am not following it - 
intensely.

I get up a couple of times 
in the middle of the night - 
to check on what is happening 
in the Middle East. 

And much is happening. 
Politically.
I observe political happenings. 
I analyse political happenings. 
What I DON'T DO is 
advocate ANY political happening.

Both the US and Israel 
are astir politically.
Bush vetoed the military appropriations bill. 
What does that mean?
I don't know. 
Certainly not that the soldiers 
aren't going to get paid next month.

Money isn't backed by gold. 
Money mostly isn't even printed.
Money is just numbers on ledgers. 
The PTB seem to be able to put 
any amount anywhere they like 
on the ledgers. 

The money doesn't really exist. 
They don't have to borrow it 
from wealthy Americans - 
or even China. 
They just spend - 
whatever they want to. 

Money is a veil - 
said Maynard Keynes. 
Money is power. 
Money is control. 
Money is a human invention -
and a castle of cards. 
I thought the castle would fall over - 
long ago. 
Eventually it will. 
All human systems eventually fail. 
But whether money is an issue - 
regarding the troops in Iraq - 
THAT I don't know.

I have studied money. 
Studied monetary theory - 
and taught economics. 
Lots of bright people 
have made fortunes 
on the money game.
I have not been one of them.

It is just a game. 
A human game - 
with human made rules. 
The game will end. 
Reality rules.

Over 500 billionaires in the world. 
People who each have a thousand piles each of - 
a million dollars. 
If you had a billion dollars 
and lived another forty years - 
and worked at spending your money 
ten hours a day - 
that would be 3,650 hours per year 
with no time off.

x ten years would be 36,500 hours 
x 4 to make it forty 
would be 150,000 hours 
in which to spend your billion dollars, 
or about ten thousand dollars per hour. 

Actually, 
you wouldn't do it, 
and so the interest on the money 
would keep piling up 
faster than you were spending it - 
and at an ever faster rate. 
Except for taxes. 
Except that many of the REALLY rich - 
don't pay taxes.

The person with the highest income 
in the world - 
(owns the telco in Mexico -
among other things)
gets $70,000,000 new dollars each day.

All peanuts - 
compared to what the US government spends.
Nope - 
not a problem. 
At least not one - 
that you or I can comprehend.

Not a problem - 
for Bush to pay for the war. 
If the US government couldn't do it - 
well then - 
Halliburton -
his Oil Buddies -
the Arabs - 
or someone else would fund it for him.
And make money while doing it.

Nope - 
I don't understand 
the Congress thing - 
and neither do - 
the Congressmen and Congresswomen - 
errr, Congresspersons or whatever.

That is not to say - 
that Bush doesn't have problems -
but I don't understand the problems - 
and I suspect that he doesn't either. 
But that just may be me.

Meanwhile - 
over in Israel. 
Olmert is in - 
or 
Olmert is out.
Who knows.
Probably not even Olmert.

There are many, many opinions on that - 
and all sorts of political aspirations 
by many different people. 

Briefly -
the situation is this. 
Olmert is in the Kadima Party. 
Lots of in-fighting going on there. 
Several people in the party want his job.

Olmert has appointed Livini 
as Secretary of State - 
but she says he should resign. 
Some say that Olmert now has to fire her.

Several cabinet members have already resigned - 
and several more are talking about doing so -
including the Secretary of Defense.

No one thinks possible - 
what I am about to suggest - 
but if - 
Olmert put Netanyahu as Secretary of State - 
Mafuz (a major military figure) 
as Secretary of Defense - 
and left Lieberman with the special portfolio 
regarding Iran - 
then that should just about be 
Iran's worst nightmare. 
The only thing worse for them would be 
for Sharon to come back from the living dead 
and to take back over Olmert's position.

Anyhow, in Israel,  
a big demonstration tomorrow - 
and several people may get off the fence. 
Things could happen quickly -
but I don't know how quickly -
and there are only about ten days 
left in the weather window. 
After that - 
neither the US or Israel 
are going to intentionally go to war - 
for awhile.

Some people feel 
that the bombing of Iran 
would divert attention from Bush and Olmert - 
and could thus be seen 
as a solution to their problems.

Something could always set it off in - 
Kurdistan -
Afghanistan -
Pakistan - 
or Disneystan.
One never knows. 

And that brings us back 
to the original problem. 
I do watch all this - 
but if I don't send this out tonight - 
then it will probably all seem irrelevant 
tomorrow.

We may have longer than I think. 
We have always in the past - 
had longer than I thought. 
But - no matter - 
I couldn't be preparing more intensely -
anyhow. 

Always more that we could do on Ark Two - 
if we had the time and money - 
but it is way past ready - 
by most anyone else's standards. 

Now, 
preparing things from the house, 
so that we are ready to move in.
Preserving personal belongings 
such as family albums and videos. 
Things that we would like to have 
to give continuity to life afterwards. 

Have been having some help. 
One visitor from San Francisco 
for two weeks - 
and the day that he left - 
three others for three days - 
that left yesterday - 
and someone else coming 
for a couple of days tomorrow - 
and then we are planning 
a couple of big work days - 
where I have invited a number to come.

I figure that this will be most helpful 
in helping to locate the remains 
of the previous technological society - 
and to re-establish industry.

Money is not a problem. 
We don't have any.
But then - 
if things happen soon - 
perhaps we don't need any.

when a Divine Power is released - 
as in no other season. 
But humanity, as a whole, 
remains largely unaware of them.
