It has been an interesting day.
In fact last two days.
One thing has just led to another.
It has been that way
in world news also.
UN Resolution regarding Iran.
Iran ramps up against British crew.
UN Resolution against Iran.
Iran ramps up against British crew.
Embassies preparing to bail in Iran.
War correspondents gathering in the Middle East.
Military troops gathering everywhere -
(The Stennis is on its way)
Matthew 24:28
For wheresoever the carcase is,
there will the eagles be gathered together.
Oh, well,
you read the news -
and know just as much as I do -
what it all means.
In view of the world's problems -
our own individual ones
may seem pretty insignificant.
But then -
they may be interrelated
in ways we can't imagine.
Federal war budgets -
Federal Reserve rates -
Federal involvements -
may all be beyond what we can contemplate
or have any hope of changing -
but they may affect us nevertheless.
The important thing -
is to stay with the flow -
and while God controls the big picture -
He also controls the details.
We in our details -
may wonder how we all fit in -
but we assuredly do -
and we can never know
for what is good or bad.
Two days ago -
Jean overloaded the washing machine.
That was bad.
Blew an internal breaker
on the washing machine motor.
I bailed out four buckets of water
and with the forty pounds of wet towels
I figure that it was trying to spin
about 120 pounds.
Mechanic rewired the washing machine motor -
so that it would by-pass
the now defunct internal breaker.
That was good -
but now it threw a house breaker
every time it changed cycles -
from wash to rinse to spin and so forth.
Many trips downstairs to do a load of wash.
So that was bad.
Then in the middle of the night -
she says to me -
"No hot water."
when she is wanting to take a bath -
in preparation for going to school the next day.
Hmmm.
I wonder if the breaker going on and off -
has affected the hot water tank.
Resetting the house breaker doesn't help.
Not good.
Next morning call hydro.
Not simple -
turns out company has changed hands
three times -
and I probably -
push this and that button -
so that fifty times later
have scheduled a technician.
That is good.
Thought comes to me.
There may be an internal breaker
to the hot water tank.
Neighbour comes and resets it for me.
That is good -
but now technician coming is bad.
Call company.
Can't cancel technician.
That is bad.
Technician comes -
and says tank should be replaced.
It is a rental - so costs nothing -
that is good.
Turns out old tank not that bad -
and can be fixed -
and technician can give it to me -
plus super deal on three 2004 tanks
that he has taken out.
So now we have the four tanks -
and all correct sizes -
that we need for the shelter -
and three are only three years old.
I think that is SUPER good.
In fact - a miracle.
Also -
knows a well-to-do lady
who has back problem
and can't go downstairs
to her laundry room.
Bad for the lady.
She remodels upstairs -
and puts nice new laundry up there
that has to have fancy matching appliances.
Nice for the lady.
Technician has to go bring up
washer dryer from the basement -
bad for technician -
but will bring them to us -
for $75 each.
Now wife has new (to us)
washer and dryer and hot water tank
instead of over fifteen year old
ones that would have given trouble
but which we couldn't have afforded to replace -
although things like this
should be fixed now
out here in the boonies -
for the events we are anticipating.
So-
bottom line -
it was good for her
that she overloaded the washing machine
In fact she considers that a miracle.
AND we got the four hot water tanks
that I have been worrying about
for the shelter.
Still -
working on CATherine the Great.
Got her to light -
but needed new brushes -
which was good -
which arrived yesterday -
and I know you are going to find this
hard to believe -
but the dog ate one of them -
which was bad.
(These are carbon and wire -
so while she chewed it up -
I hope she didn't swallow any.)
(She also ate / gnawed the cord
on my computer speakers -
and awhile back -
chewed my wife's hearing aid.)
I told the doggy that was bad.
And told her, and told her.
She finally stood up -
turned around and sat back down -
with her back to me.
Mechanic came -
and we figured out a work around -
for the eaten brush -
and he fixed the computer speakers -
(and awhile back we had gotten
a new earpiece for my wife's hearing aid -
which has stopped working now anyhow -
so good / bad / good / bad)
and for the replacement brush -
we think we have found a better source -
so that may have turned out good.
So - anyway -
down to the shelter
to get CATherine going again -
and with lots of effort -
she worked beautifully -
but then we stopped her for a test -
and she wouldn't restart.
Sounds bad -
but this may be good -
because in the middle of the night
I sat straight up in bed -
with a possible answer -
and I don't know that I was even dreaming
about her.
So -
we were down in the generator room
working away on CATherine
when there steps in the door
a cop and waves for me to follow him out,
because of the noise.
Yep -
although I didn't know -
what was going on up on the surface
we were being raided.
Just a little raid.
Only four vehicles that I could see -
three cop cars on the parking lot
and a fire truck that I could see
over the top of the berm -
but there could have been more behind it.
"What is all this about", says I.
"We have a complaint", says he.
"What sort of complaint", says I.
"That you are in the shelter -
and there is a court order
that it is to be welded shut", says he.
"Who complained?", says I.
"I don't know", says he.
"What do you mean, you don't know?", says I.
"The complaint was to the Fire Department", says he.
"Well, why didn't they come in", says I.
"They are under orders not to", says he.
"Well they are supposed to", says I.
(Actually the Council has passed a by-law
that they aren't even to come
in case of a fire or emergency -
but that is another story.)
(AND I am sure that they have directions
that they are never to come -
without a police escort).
Anyway here we stood -
and I told the officers
that I never gave them any trouble -
and several of them said -
"We know that - we have been here many times".
So - I said,
"come on in and I will show you around."
Said they didn't have time -
and I heard the order given as they left
that they were all to meet back at the park.
Plot, plot, plot.
This may all seem bad -
but I feel confident -
that God knows it is all for good.
Many people would be disturbed
by such confrontations -
and if like in Waco, Texas
I had arms and resisted -
well -
you can see where that would go.
But-
I have no arms.
Matthew:
5:39 But I say unto you,
That ye resist not evil:
but whosoever shall smite thee on thy right cheek,
turn to him the other also.
5:40 And if any man will sue thee at the law,
and take away thy coat,
let him have thy cloak also.
5:41 And whosoever shall compel thee to go a mile,
go with him twain.
So,
here we are -
walking the path -
step by step.
Doing what has to be done -
at the moment.
World events swirl about us -
and out here in the boonies -
there is an old bearded guy -
that the Council is scared to death of -
and fire department won't visit -
not even with police escort -
so that here at 3:00 a.m. in the morning -
I sit here wondering -
"What does it all mean -
and are we in step with God's will?"
Ecclesiastes:
3:1 To every thing there is a season,
and a time to every purpose under the heaven:
3:2 A time to be born,
and a time to die;
a time to plant,
and a time to pluck up that which is planted;
3:3 A time to kill,
and a time to heal;
a time to break down,
and a time to build up;
3:4 A time to weep,
and a time to laugh;
a time to mourn,
and a time to dance;
3:5 A time to cast away stones,
and a time to gather stones together;
a time to embrace,
and a time to refrain from embracing;
3:6 A time to get,
and a time to lose;
a time to keep,
and a time to cast away;
3:7 A time to rend,
and a time to sew;
a time to keep silence,
and a time to speak;
3:8 A time to love,
and a time to hate;
a time of war,
and a time of peace.
--------------
These are such times
as we live in.
Our days are filled
with activity.
Jean started yesterday
a six week - five day a week computer course -
on Dreamweaver
and Soundforge 8
that we need for our World Language Process.
End of May -
she starts her gardens -
and between all that, her painting -
and the book she is writing -
I think she is pretty amazing
for an 80 year old gal -
but it leaves me looking after Chyna
(which is her project)
a lot of the time.
Right now -
our house is such a stir -
that you can't move through it.
I had to move the plants
off the stairway that goes to the basement
to bring in the new hot water tank,
(and tomorrow the washer and dryer)
so it looks like a veritable forest.
Big snow storm due next week -
probably the last one of the year -
and then I can move the plants out
to the greenhouse.
Of course none of us know
what is going to happen next week -
or the week after.
Chyna is due for x-rays
to see if she can be a momma or not,
and some think Iran is due for bombing.
Luke:
1:23 But woe unto them that are with child,
and to them that give suck,
in those days!
for there shall be great distress in the land,
and wrath upon this people.
Timing, timing, timing.
All is timing.
The world and the events to come
will not be timed to our convenience.
It is we -
who must be in step -
with the will of the Lord.
There is a proverb
of unknown origin that says:
"It is an ill wind
that blows nobody good."
But -
know that
an ill wind cometh.
Only Infinite God -
knoweth the good
that requires it.
Peace and love,
Bruce
