Project 3000

Project 2000 has been completed
and Ark Two is now starting
on Project 3000

For this new project
we need a number of additional editors.

This is the third group of 1,000 books
(both the previous groups
actually had considerably over
1,000 books each).

The approximately forty members
of the Ark Two Community at large,
who archived the second group,
will be asked if they will
archive this group also.

Project 3,000 has an editorial TEAM
presently consisting of 7 members.
We could use about that many
additional editors.

The categories presently being considered
for Project 3,000 are:

A. Disposal of nuclear weapons
	and weapons of mass destruction

B. Decontamination and removal of hazards
such as landmines and chemical WMD

C. Agriculture in the face of climate change
	(i.e. nuclear winter, increased UV,
	  shifted weather patterns, etc.)

D. Agricultural methods without
	fuel dependent methods
	and without horses or oxen.

E. Re-establishment of simplified farm machinery.

F. Food preservation, packaging and distribution.

G. Re-establishment of the chemical industry.
(On both lower and intermediate scale)

H. Re-establishment of other industries and technologies

I. Technologies for Cottage Industries

J. Medical methods with lower technological requirements

K. Educational procedures and materials for children

L. Procedures for re-establishing computer networking and communication

M. Additional refugee handling procedures

N. Alternative energy

If you are willing to participate -
please indicated the category
that you would be willing to edit.

The planned method of operation
is that the Assignment Editor
would send you a resource location.
You would look at the resource
and determine whether it is worthwhile including -
and that it does not duplicate something
that we already have
in the previous 2,000+ books.

You can also look for resources
on your own.

If you feel the resource
obtained by either method
is worthwhile
you would write a sentence or two description
of the resource
and include that description
in a structured directory to your category -
and you would then upload the source
to your file on the project's data base server.

If you are willing to help on this project -
please email me right away at:

	DawnSayer@webpal.org

We have also received a suggestion -
that we make a list of people who have purchased
and who are archiving the:

	Robinson Curriculum
	(for home schooling)

Thoughts and suggestions on this
will be appreciated.

The following are a number
of sources and quotes
that I have been
gathering / saving
with the thought of perhaps
weaving them together
into some sort of report
or discussion.

However, I have decided
to present them here -
largely without analyses -
which you will therefore
have to provide for yourself.

------------

Last December, DEBKAfile’s military sources reported the conviction of some
Iranian and Russian aid defense experts that the deployment of Tor-M1
missiles at Iran’s nuclear installations will make it almost impossible for
the Americans or Israelis to knock out those facilities for any lengthy
period. Therefore, they estimated that any US or Israeli strike against Iran
’s nuclear sites must go forward in the next six months before the new
Russian anti-air systems are in place.

http://tinyurl.com/28ezdh

Now that the TORs have been
(or are being delivered)
a different view is being presented
as below:

"It has been reported in the Russian press that the Iranians will use the
Tor-M1 system to defend their nuclear facilities against possible U.S. air
and missile attacks (see EDM, September 20, 2006). But the Tor-M1 can take
on only relatively low-flying targets (up to six kilometers) at a relatively
short range (up to 12 kilometers). The Tor-M1 is good against helicopters,
incoming attack planes, and low-flying slow cruise missiles. But the Tor-M1
will be unable to engage U.S. bombers, especially stealth aircraft, flying
over 10 kilometers high while they release a volley of GPS-guided bombs.

New "bunker-busting" conventional bombs weigh only 250lb. According to
Boeing, the GBU-39 small-diameter bomb "quadruples" the firepower of US
warplanes, compared to those in use even as recently as 2003. A single
stealth or B-52 bomber can now attack between 150 and 300 individual points
to within a metre of accuracy using the global positioning system.

Any US general planning to attack Iran can now assume that at least 10,000
targets can be hit in a single raid, with warplanes flying from the US or
Diego Garcia. In the past year, unlimited funding for military technology
has taken "smart bombs" to a new level."

Some people have therefore commented to me
that the TORs are not a defense
against high flying US bombers
and their smart bombs.

But -
The problem as I see it is -
that Israel does not have any
high flying stealth bombers -
and they may not feel that they can depend
on the US to take out Iran.

Therefore Israel has to take out Iran -
before Iran gets the bomb -
and now before it gets the TORs set up
to protect its bomb development facilities.

For that -
they may already be too late.

Iran DOES have nuclear weapons", General Yuri Baluyevsky, the Russian Deputy
Chief of Staff told journalists,

-----------------
For an Iranian view -
look at the following:

http://tinyurl.com/yq2jcc

Today, marines have the USS Boxer and USS Bataan carrier forces in the Gulf
and probably also the USS Kearsarge and USS Bonhomme Richard. Three others,
the USS Peleliu, USS Wasp and USS Iwo Jima, are ready to join them. Earlier
this year, HQ staff to manage these forces were moved from Virginia to
Bahrain.

The following -
I consider to be a VERY important
Russian article -

Judge for yourself.
--------------
And then -
there is Syria.

Iran and Lebanon are two parts of the same body, and only through
cooperation between our two nations will it be possible to foil the
conspiracies of the enemy," Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad said
Saturday.

Hezbollah leader Hassan Nasrallah said that his organization is entitled to
secretly transfer arms in order to fight Israel, and that he will not
forgive the Lebanese Army for seizing last week an arms-laden truck that
belonged to Hezbollah.

Nasrallah said "we have plenty of weapons ... and we have the right to
transport our arms to combat Israel."

--------------
Many voices -
and many sources:

"... the Pentagon has negotiated basing rights in Romania and Bulgaria so
that B-1 and B-2 bombers can operate out of airfields there. "

-----------
The IAEA report prepared by director Mohamed ElBaradei showed Tehran has
instead expanded its enrichment efforts — setting up nearly 1,000
uranium-spinning centrifuges in and above an underground bunker, enriching
minute amounts of uranium and bringing nearly 9 tons of the gaseous
feedstock into its underground nuclear facility at Natanz in preparation for
enrichment.

Iranian officials also informed the (IAEA) agency that they would expand
their centrifuge installations to close to 3,000 by May...

Iran's stated goal is running 54,000 centrifuges at Natanz to churn out
enriched uranium — enough for dozens of nuclear weapons a year.

“There are extra challenges facing us,” stated British Commodore Keith
Winstanley

“There have been a series of Iranian exercises in the northern Gulf to the
point that it’s a bit like with the Russians at the height of the Cold War.

Winstanley stated: “If you look at the UK component we have almost doubled
it ... Most of these ships are here on training missions but there is no
doubt that we could use the warfighting capabilities they possess.”

-----------------
And for a longer range view
of things to come -
may I offer the following:

"The real question all of us must answer is how we can ensure that the
benefits of this new world order can be shared by not just some but all." "I
suggest it is by founding this emerging new order first around recognizing
our essential interdependence in alliances for progress and by reshaping,
for the needs of new times, our international institutions,"
-- Britain's long-serving finance minister Gordon Brown, who is expected to
take over from Prime Minister Tony Blair in a matter of months

-----------
Once again -
may I remind you that tonight
is the beginning of the
Jewish celebration of Purim -
with all its significance
about Iran -
and that symbolic Blood Moon
that will appear over the Middle East.

And then -
there rapidly approaches
the Persian / Zoroastrian New Year
and the 4th anniversary
of the invasion of Iraq,
with the President of Iran's
intimations about the return of the Mahdi.

With all this
it may seem silly
that I am starting
Project 3000,
and while it may be true
that there may be little likelihood
of time to finish it -
still the structure may be useful -
afterwards.

Peace and love,
Bruce
