[Arktwo] What a week!

For we and the world!

Well, once again -
my poetic day came and went
in Jerusalem.
The march was a bit of a fizzle.
There were 3500 marchers
and 7000 policemen.
They could have marched down
the few hundred yards
they were allowed to march -
each marcher -
with a policeman on each side.
The rally in the park at the end
was cancelled.

So anyway -
they didn't suffer the wrath of God,
or of the Jewish Orthodox,
or of the Muslims.

For a moment there -
I thought maybe
the fire and brimstone
were about to rain from the sky.
There was a rumour
that the Enterprise
was sailing for the Gulf.

Three prestigious news locations
had the announcement.
One with it sailing into the Gulf.
However,
when I traced the story sources back -
they were all from one source -
Debka File -

http://www.debka.com/headline.php?hid=4334

which is sometimes good -
but other times misleading -
like this one.

Turns out that the Big-E
is still safely tied to the dock
in Norfolk -
according to some supposed eye witnesses.
Doesn't mean that it isn't about to go -
but at least -
it hasn't left yet.

Seemed reasonable to me
that it might have been on the way
with the Olmert and Bush meeting
having just taken place.

I spent over two hours
trying to verify the story from
the usual sources -
"Where are the carriers"
"Carrier Deployment"
and the Enterprise homepage itself.
Those sources have gone completely out of date.
Three others have disappeared completely.
Is this a news black out?

Wherever the Enterprise is -
we should eventually know.
When the clouds lift -
it is hard to hide the moon.

---------
Bush this week met with another
highly placed Jewish group -
for which no report appeared
in most of the MSM.

And Cheney also had a meeting
with a some highly placed
Israeli Defense officials.
Silence on that also.

I don't know what is cooking -
but Cheney is stewing.
Or more correctly -
afraid that he is about to be stewed.
He finally abdicated from the administration.
Yesterday, said that the VP's Office is not a part
of the 'Administration',
so didn't have to abide by Administration rules,
or rules regarding the Administration.

Cheney Power Grab:
Says White House Rules Don't Apply to Him
June 21, 2007

The US Congress did not take kindly to that
and wrote him an 8 page letter telling him so.

http://tinyurl.com/2qaxgk

In the end, today,
Bush got him off the hook -
by saying that his rules don't apply to Cheney -
nor for that matter to himself.

Its again all over
who can disclose national secrets.
I have got to agree -
the Administration has the right to administer -
but also -
the Congress has the right to oversee -
(it is called impeachment).
But -
I am not going to go there.

Away from those astronomical heights
and off to others -
Jean and I went out to view
the space lab and Space Shuttle Atlantis,
whatever day that was supposed to be.

Sat in the car
with Chyna
on a hilltop
for two hours.
But never saw it.

Was supposed to be exceptional
with space shuttle Atlantis
breaking away from the Lab -
which has its new solar wings spread.
But -
was to be visible for less than a minute
in our location.
We must have blinked.

Anyhow, the Atlantis Astronauts
are home safely.
Thank goodness.

Saw a satellite
for the first time
in Baltimore, Md. -
We were lying on our backs
on the grass behind a parking lot
behind a church.
We were sleeping there that night
with the children
because we didn't have money for a hotel room.

Had just arrived there -
for my new teaching assignment
as a professor at Morgan State College.
Lots of interesting stories from those days.
Such amazing times
that we have been privileged to see.

Up the next morning
and to the hilltop at Ark Two
for Sunrise at 5:36
and the summer Solstice.
Our replica of the Stonehenge Portals points
now looks much more meaningful.
Jean found red pipes for the soltices
and a white one for the equinoxes
and we have seven foot tall blue ones
for the monthly 21st dates between.
She had gone up the Sunday before
to help me set them.

"An estimated 20,000 people gathered at the stone circle in Wiltshire, in
southwestern England",
but here it was just Chyna and I -
and not even the sun -
which stayed behind the clouds.

Friend is now helping to build
a North Star marker.
We worked on it yesterday
and he is to help again Monday.
Then our observatory will be complete.
It will take a few days and trips
to set the marker.

---------

I am getting more and more requests
for 'survival advice'.
And keeping up with them for a change.
It is nice each night -
to go to bed with my In-box empty,
although there will be 30 pieces in it
when I get up at 3:00 a.m. to check the news.

One news item you may have noticed this week
is the US Government proclaimed
US nuclear weapons are safe and reliable.

I don't know how safe
for someone they are aimed at -
but I suspect pretty reliable to go off.
But -
you don't need to worry about those.
It is what someone else might send in return.

The ten top pieces of advice
that I always give are: -

1. Get out of the cities
2. Be away from large bodies of water
3. Be in a compatible culture
4. Have a shelter
5. Work with others - don't' try to go it alone
6. Have post holocaust agricultural plans
7. Have copies of 'the paper' available
8. Have radiation equipment and KI
9. Educate yourself ahead of time
10. Stock beans, grains, honey, powdered milk, salt

This email may seem
like a hodgepodge of things -
but they are just little bits and pieces
that I saved all week.

For my native friends
I have the following -
which interested at least me.

http://www.indiancountry.com:80/content.cfm?id=1096415183

The biggy on native affairs
here in Canada
is supposed to be on the 29th -
when there is supposed to be
a national strike -
with the natives blockading
the national highway and so forth.

Well, Back to Jerusalem

US Congress Declares Jerusalem "the Undivided Capital of Israel"

The resolution, passed by a voice vote on June 5 – the 40th anniversary of
the Israeli conquest of East Jerusalem and other Arab territories – states
that U.S. policy should recognize that Jerusalem is “the undivided capital
of Israel.”

Whatever you may think of the subject -
and no matter what the US Senate may say -
or what action Bush may take -
it does remain a centre of controversy.
--------------
Jerusalem is not by any means
the only controversy around Israel.

Here is a quote from David Dolan -
one of my favourite Mideast analysts:

"So now we have an Islamic fundamentalist state, Hamastan, backed by Syria
and Iran, not far from Tel Aviv, Ben Gurion airport, and Jerusalem."

Personally,
I think in the next week or two
things may settle down somewhat in the Gaza.
However,
as Hamas solidifies its situation -
it will become more and more an irritant
in the side of Israel.

---------------
Speaking of irritants -
here is a headline this week
that was an irritant for Putin in Russia.

"Gates: U.S. Missile Plan in Europe a Go"

Jun 15, 3:44 AM (ET)

BRUSSELS, Belgium (AP) - Defense Secretary Robert Gates says the Bush
administration is not willing to replace its plan for a missile defense
system in Eastern Europe with Russia's counterproposal for a radar site in
Azerbaijan.

That's the blunt message Gates was to deliver to Russian Defense Minister
Anatoly Serdyukov during a private meeting Friday at the NATO gathering in
Brussels.

----------

The thing about Putin
becoming irritated -
is that he can do something about it.

SYRIA ORDERS MIG-31 FROM RUSSIA

MOSCOW [MENL] -- Syria has ordered the advanced MiG-31E fighter-jet from
Russia.

Industry sources said the Syrian contract was signed in early 2007 and the
first aircraft delivery was expected over the next few months.

I suspect those planes will come
with pilots (trainers)
who can (and may) fly them.

They could also come with several missiles
and nuclear warheads -
which they are capable of delivering.

-----------

Different cultures -
different perspectives.

Here is one that many of my readers
may not be aware of.

Juneteenth is celebrated on June 19th
and is the oldest celebration in the US
to mark the end of slavery.

Juneteenth marks the day
Gen. Gordon Granger arrived in Galveston
in 1865
to share news of the Emancipation Proclamation,
which freed slaves two years
earlier on Jan. 1, 1863.

Some note about the Juneteenth observations
in Austin Texas and Milwaukee Wisconsin.
Didn't make a lot of headlines -
but crowds pulled non-black drivers
and passengers
from their cars in both cities
and killed one of them.

Lots of hustling in the news
the next few days
to be politically correct
and say that it had nothing to do
with Juneteenth.

----------------

Lots more news -
both at home and abroad -
but not enough space to report it.

I am now just watching the news
throughout the week and making notes.
What will seem important to me -
may not seem important to others.

I am always interested in what happens
around Jerusalem and Israel.
I also follow the local native scene -
which some people don't.
And I know that Juneteenth
won't even appear on most of your radars.

Still, if the Enterprise does go
it won't just be an exercise
because it just recently returned,
so if any of you hear anything -
I would appreciate your letting me know.

Off to the pizza parlour.
Jean's 80th birthday today -
and Chyna's first -
and they give free pizza on birthday.
We won't let Chyna have any,
although she will go with us.

Peace and love,
Bruce
